Over 200 residents of Lwalakwar Village in Lacor Parish, Lamogi Sub-county have taken a bold step into the digital age after successfully completing a five-day digital skills training, earning certificates that mark more than just participation—they signal transformation.

The training, conducted as a follow-up to last year’s tablet distribution in the community, was designed to ensure that beneficiaries not only own digital devices but can confidently and effectively use them. Participants were equipped with practical, hands-on skills ranging from basic device operation and maintenance to navigating social media platforms, managing contacts, understanding how the internet works, and gaining foundational knowledge of websites.

For many in Lwalakwar, the training opened doors to new possibilities.

“This training has changed how I see my tablet. I can now use it to communicate better, access information, and even solve small technical problems on my own,” one participant shared.

The excitement and appreciation from the community were evident during the certificate handover ceremony, officiated by Lamogi Sub-county Chief, **Florence Medinda Aryemo**. In her remarks, she encouraged participants to put their newly acquired knowledge into practice—using their tablets not just for communication, but as tools to improve livelihoods, access opportunities, and support learning within their households.

“This is an opportunity for transformation. Use these skills to take care of your devices and to improve your lives,” she emphasized.

The initiative is part of the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) Digital Skilling for Rural Communities Project, which aims to bridge the digital divide by empowering underserved and unserved communities with essential digital knowledge. In Amuru District, Lwalakwar Village was strategically selected by the District Executive Committee to benefit from the program.

As the certificates were handed over, they symbolized more than completion—they represented confidence, empowerment, and a community ready to thrive in a digital world.

Lwalakwar is no longer just connected by tablets; it is now connected by knowledge, skills, and a shared vision for a smarter, more empowered future.
